I should really finish reading 'Angels and Demons'! They talk about the conclave there, the chamberlain (carmalengo), etc. Of course, it's all fiction, but the 'selection' of the next Pope is discussed there.
Anyway, back to reality: It's kinda nice how they're offering tributes to the Pope. He didn't just affect the Catholics of the world, but other religions as well. Outside of the church, he's seen as an ambassador to peace. He's attributed to helping topple the Berlin wall and ending Communism in Russia. I also heard about this Jewish woman who was moved to tears as she meditated and prayed for a Roman Catholic pope. They also talked about his humour (see pic below).
