I didn&#039;t realise how difficult sanding maple wood is until actually working on the board. It took me an hour and a half (I think) this evening to sand my longboard down to barewood. Even then, I was only really able to remove the old paint and polyurethane. Don&#039;t worry, I&#039;m not killing myself &#8212; I wore a NIOSH-certified mask thingy and occasionally vacuumed my workspace for dust. Even with the 5&#8243; orbital sander, it still look me a while to strip off the stuff. <\/p>\n<p>\nBecause I&#039;m impatient (instead of waiting until tomorrow), I decided to stain the board this evening as well. It turned out beautifully and I cannot wait until tomorrow when I wipe another coat \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oof.
