LOL.

So, let us begin. This year, I wanted to start eating healthy-errrrr… And what I mean by that is: have the minimum/recommended dosage of the FDA (which I heard recently have not been updated since the 60’s!) in terms of whole grains, fruits and veggies. That being said, I <3 meat: pork, chicken, beef, duck, entrails, etc — so unless you see me returning home from the doctor’s office saying I can’t continue eating meat, I can’t give that stuff up and become vegetarian or worse… *gulp* vegan.

I’m trying to be mindful of the way my food is cooked, too; less deep fried stuff and more sautéed or grilled or baked but it’s really difficult to abide by these healthier methods of cooking. I’d also need to get leaner meats but not too-lean cos I read a while back that there’s such a thing as protein poisoning (proteinosis). Anyway, let’s just jump right in to what I had (note that most Filipino food, not all and the ones that I have anyway, are high in cholesterol… EEK):

Thursday night
Filipino food (store-bought): Chicharon Bulaklak (deep fried pig entrails seasoned with salt [and I’m pretty sure, MSG]), steamed white rice, Pinakbet (pork vegetable stew with shrimp paste), Tokwa’t Baboy (Boiled then fried pork with fried tofu in soysauce and vinegar). Total cholesterol and fat count: 3948602304904583049583944 (lol so I exaggerate! but it totally felt that I’ve ingested that much)

Friday
Afternoon: sushi
Evening: 2 pieces of Long John Silvers’ deep fried fish filet and a handful of fries. >_<

Saturday
Afternoon: Sashimi, sushi (Amaebi aka sweet shrimp, served separately with deep fried, battered shrimp heads) and Salmon-skin salad
Evening: Coldstone ice-cream! AHHHH. Something I call the “Rocky RaD” — sweet cream and chocolate ice-cream with marshmallows, roasted almonds, chocolate syrup and sugar cone pieces.

Sunday
Morning: Yakult and Oatmeal (plus GU chomps, during bike ride)
Afternoon: Hawaiian Plantation Fried Chicken (dark meat… eeek) and Hawaiian macaroni salad
Evening: left-over Spicy Tuna rolls

To sum up (too late), I was craving something deep fried each day. Ugh. Here’s hoping that this week will be better. I already began with some oatmeal and Yakult this morning. Tonight, I’m cooking some pre-marinated asada chicken breast and will add those to quesadillas. Ok, so it’s not as healthy as say, green salad, but I’m taking baby steps. ^_^

I normally don’t do recaps of my weekend but this one’s about food and although I haven’t any photos to support the claim, I just have to look at the scale to remind myself of it!
