Silly me.

My sis and I travelled to Mammoth last weekend. Though there would not be any new snow, we were still excited as it was our first visit this season, especially after a 14-month hiatus — thanks to sis breaking her leg (twice) last year! Also a first: we left LA in the afternoon, and arrived in Mammoth before 10PM! That’s early for us since we tend to arrive in the wee hours of the morning!

Anyway, on Saturday, we decided that we’d warm up on the Bunny Slopes, 1) to make sure we can still ride; 2) My sis was breaking in her new board and bindings! 🙂 I was also pretty excited to try out my LifeProof case and freshly downloaded runtastic app for the iPhone. See our tracks below!

After lunch, we made several more runs — this time, we rode down Broadway and Stump Alley.

It was windy the entire day, but manageable in the lower parts of the mountain (around 8000 ft). We didn’t even risk going higher, and some chairs were closed due to poor conditions, anyway, so we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy those runs. Towards the end of the afternoon, visibility got worse, but I decided to go on two more runs down Broadway. In hindsight, I probably should have just skipped that last session.

I wiped out… thrice… on the final run! It was a combination of the wind, poor visibility (couldn’t see the contours of surface), and my glasses fogged up. LOL. I’m pretty sure the third fall was the reason why my neck is still sore/strained. I had a helmet on and crash pads on, so I guess it could’ve been worse. Silly silly me. >_<

On Sunday, we went to Canyon Lodge and attempted to get a few runs in before heading back to LA. Despite being sore (and having a few visible bruises from the day before), we enjoyed this second run thanks to the Bluebird conditions! However, since we rode primarily on the bunny slopes (and Canyon Lodge is at a lower elevation than the Main Lodge), the surface wasn’t as powdery as yesterday and we slid down crunchy ‘cords.’

p.s.,
I had also overindulged eating “bad” foods, and I ended up being extremely gassy on Saturday evening and Sunday morning (LOL TMI). That’s what happens when you eat and finish a bowlful of beef & bean chilli topped with heaping servings of diced onions and shredded cheese! I’m pretty sure I could’ve run a small methane-powered car back to LA w/ the amount of wind I broke xD EEEEWWW.
