We are what we repeatedly do.

Aristotle Quote

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Truest of words from the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, and one I should take to heart. You see, I haven’t been running at all recently regularly, and if I want to get better at it and perhaps do ultra distances like my big sis, I need to get some running done. However, the summer weather in Las Vegas has made it difficult for me to get my motivation going. And then, you would think that having an impending race would be motivation enough to go out and train, but as I have done repeatedly in the past, I ran an event with little to no training and surely enough, suffered for 4 days from excessive soreness. xD

What’s next? Three races in November — two trail runs (half + 10k) and another road half marathon. I’m not too concerned about the latter, but have aspirations to beat my previous best for the trail half then trail 10k the next day. Do I have a training plan in place for those two races I want to PR? Not yet. Have I ran since my half-marathon last Sunday? Nope, haven’t put in any miles in… But I will get back into the running habit! It’s not like I’ve lost the enjoyment of running, either. On the contrary, despite having a major headache (read: hangover) at my race on Sunday, I still had loads of fun. Loads. 🙂

So here’s to getting back on the road to place some quality miles on The One, and working towards that PR-busting fitness again. ^_^
