Still cramming.

It’s been over a decade (actually, just about 11 years and around 4 months) since I’ve graduated from university and I’m still cramming. No, I’m not studying for an exam or anything intellectual like that (ROFL). I’m cramming my training for my Long Beach 1/2 Marathon!

I think summer got in the way of my training (it really did) and for some reason, I stopped, er, training. Yep, no running, no cross-training (does surfing count?) — nothin! Fast forward a month and it finally hits me that I have two more long distance races before year’s end and I’m not prepared.

I decided, after my horrid performance/experience at the San Diego Marathon in 2008, that I would never ever do that to myself again. As a result, I’ve been relatively disciplined with training and deserved my Camp Pendleton Marathon personal record and 5 weeks after that, ran another marathon and finished unscathed (with Sharool!). I guess I forget that promise to myself when summer arrived and the beer kept flowing! Hehehehe. (Technically, I stopped training after my last 1/2 marathon [San Fran in July] so would that still be regarded as summer?) ;)

Anyway, without ending up too wordy (too late), I’ve kick started my training by running about 13 miles on Saturday. I’ll be cramming the rest of my runs up until the fated day (Long Beach is on October 11th) and am hoping that I don’t fall off the wagon (or however that idiom goes) by the time the Las Vegas half comes by.

AHHHHHHHHHH!

Long Run Training: 13 miles

Supposed to do 10 miles but ended up walking the final 3 miles to bring the tally up. I was running with sis (Annelle) and it was good  because her pace was perfect for someone who was getting back to the swing of things. No real pains felt (amazingly) except for some soreness on the soles of my feet (stretching it out helped, though). Overall, a great jumpstart to my training. ^_^

Oh, I guess a month is enough for me to forget my pre-run routine that I forget to put the sensor on my iPod for my Nike+ system! LOL. It was cool, though as I still had music and was able to gather other data as I wore my Garmin and HR monitor. Stats can be found below!

Omigosh!

I haven’t ran in a MONTH. I’ve got a half-marathon this October — Long Beach with the patent-patent gals ;) and then another one in December (@ Vegas!) I’ve been doing some sort of workout here and there but nothing substantial. I need to get back into the swing of things else am gonna suffer @ LB. >_<

I think after my first back-to-back marathon plus the other half-marathons (read: my limit was one half and one full a year), I’ve burned out on running! LOL. That sounds ludicrous, but I seriously think it’s true. There goes my planned PR for LB!

In other news, I got an early Bday pressie from my sis — it’s a triathlon wetsuit! We got it last weekend @ my other sisy’s first Olympic-distance tri event (she finished!) and I was super excited I wanted to go ocean swimming right then and there (we were on the beach [the Expo was on the sand] after all and the ocean was right there!) :) So yeah, add that to my list of races next year — triathlons! (Sprint for now). It’s an Xterra Vortex 3 and it’s tiiiight (both figuratively and literally!). Best of all, it was on sale. ^_^

So yeah, the plan is to jumpstart my run training this weekend and then carry over that excitement (yeah right) until October 11th. With any luck, I’ll at least best my San Francisco time (2:45ish).
