Cross-Training (30 minutes)

Thursday, 14 May 2009 | 10:38 pm

Notes:
Holycrap. I did some drills today. Oh, soz — I went for a 30-minute lap swim. I downloaded some swimming tips from this Swiss site and then did drills (correction: one type of drill). LOL! I was only able to do like, this drill where you’re on your side, your left hand outstretched, right hand on your thigh and then looking down (underwater), only turning your head to breathe. You’re basically sideways kicking and man did it work my legs. I did it again, this time, right hand outstretched and boy was I ‘wobbling’ about. As if I didn’t have anymore energy after that, I used the pull buoy and did about 20 metres of the front crawl before I stopped and just paddled my way to the end of the lane. After catching my breath, I swam back (still with the pull buoy between my legs) and proceeded to do some kickboard exercises. In-between those drills were 100 metres of breaststroke and freestyle.

Thank the good Lord in Heaven tomorrow, Friday, is a rest day. I’m definitely going to sleep soundly tonight. ^_^

Cross-Training (30 minutes)

Wednesday, 13 May 2009 | 10:54 pm

Notes:
Since I didn’t complete my 6-miler this morning and went for a 3-miler instead, I went to the local plunge and swam enough laps to cover a 30-minute workout. I focused on my breathing and I did notice that I tend to exhale before I inhale when my head is turned (i.e., you’re supposed to inhale only). I tried to focus on this and attempted to go slow. I was able to do 100 metres of the front crawl without being that winded but had to revert to 50 metres of breaststroke thereafter. Again, my goal is to do 400 metres of the freestyle stroke without stopping!

Training Run: 3 miles

Wednesday, 13 May 2009 | 10:50 pm

Notes:
I didn’t really feel like running this morning; somehow, when I got to the park, my legs wouldn’t move! LOL. Well, my legs were fine but it was more of top-heavy… My shoulders slumped and I did not have any motivation at all. I started off with a casual walk, turned brisk then finally broke out into a jog. My goal was to do 6 miles but I decided to at least do 3, and then make up the remaining via cross-training (see above!)
