San Diego, here I come!

Sunday, 14 May 2006 | 05:32 pm

Ok, I ran 20 miles today. I'm so happy. I was extremely sore this afternoon, but after some stretching and a nice nap, I was ready for church and standing for about an hour playing on my guitar. Iono what I'll feel tomorrow morning (hope I'm not too sore) but I just feel confident that I can tackle the San Diego marathon. I won't be over confident, however and not do my remaining training runs. No, I'll continue doing them (12 miles next week, 8 miles after that then my M-day (Marathon Day).

In other non-sport related news, my li'l bro Andreas and I have been playing CIV2 MPG lately. Yah, we play a network game and it's really quite fun… Although, we piss each other off by discovering technologies that one's already in the process of discovering or building “Wonders of the World” knowing that the other is building that as well.. Hehehe… Here's to online-sibling rivalries. Civilization II is such a GREAT classic game. You should get it. Then let me know if you have it and maybe we can invite you to our network game… ^_^

Long Run Training: 20 miles

Sunday, 14 May 2006 | 05:27 pm

Notes:
I did it — I ran 20 miles today. The weather was perfect, too — the sun didn't really start it's harsh shine until towards the end of my run (when I had about 4 miles left). I think I hit the wall at 13 miles, though, cos I kept stopping. Then I thought, even if I run really slow, it'll be better than walking at a 20 minute/mile pace… So I ran/jogged even if it was really really slow. It turned out ok cos it wasn't that slow! My average pace in this run was 12:36 minutes/mile. IMHO, that's pretty darn good cos I normally go 13 or even at a 14 minute pace on such long runs. As usual, I had my Clif SHOT Bloks and they helped a GREAT deal with keeping my energy levels up. I forgot to bring more salt packets, though, and only had one. I feel good that I accomplished this run. All my future training runs will taper down, now, leading up to my June 4th marathon. I'm more confident going to the marathon in San Diego, now, than I was when I did my Chicago marathon. TWENTY FREAKIN MILES RAN TODAY! LMAO. I didn't think I could do it… Oh yah, I burned like, 2,063 calories… ^_^

I R Baboon.

Friday, 12 May 2006 | 09:55 am

So the other day, after an semi-exhausting day of work, I clock off, go to the parking garage, and drive onto the 'Monthly/Prepaid' exit lane… As I rolled down my window and pulled out my keycard, the guard takes the keycard from my hand and waves it in front of my car. I was like, “whoa! how'd you do that?” half-joking but definitely amazed. The guy asks if I was new, and I was like, “er, not really” — so then he points to this thing on the ceiling of the garage: it was this huge freakin' receiver thingy for the keycard. It turns out, I didn't need to roll down my window and 'wave' the card over this yellow ticket kiosk cos this receiver thingy does the trick… DOH! Flash back to the 3 weeks prior wherein every single morning and evening, I'd furiously wave the darn keycard in front of the yellow kiosk thingy, utterly frustrated and baffled why the stupid arm won't lift up. The parking garage pwnz0red me. >_<
